Chaudandigadhi
In Nepali: चौदण्डीगढी

Chaudandi was one of the small kingdoms of the eastern hills ruled by the Sen dynasty, which also held Makwanpur and Vijayapur. Its fort stood on a ridge above the Triyuga valley and fell to the Gorkhali army during Prithvi Narayan Shah's unification in the 1770s.
Today the municipality bears the fort's name, and remains of walls and old temples stand in the forest on the ridge. The Udayapur valley below, with Gaighat and the Triyuga river, is inner Terai country with Tharu, Magar and Rai villages.
What to see and do
Walk up to the ridge to see the fort remains and temples among the trees, with views over the Triyuga valley and the Chure hills. Down in the valley, visit Gaighat bazaar and the Tharu and Magar villages along the Triyuga river.
Good to know
There are few signs and no formal site management, so a local guide helps. The Udayapur valley is warm and can be hot from April to June; winter is most comfortable.
