About Visit Nepal

Who makes Visit Nepal, where its information comes from and how it is kept up to date.

What this site is

Visit Nepal is an independent travel guide that puts every province, all 77 districts and more than 200 places — famous sights and hidden gems — on one map of Nepal, in English and Nepali. It also has a trip planner and cost calculator, a month-by-month guide to the weather, a festival calendar and practical travel information.

It is made in Nepal by the team behind Sanothimi. We are not a travel agency and do not sell trips; the site is free to use and is supported by advertising.

Where the information comes from

Place descriptions are written by us from published sources: Wikipedia and Wikidata, the Nepal Tourism Board, national park and conservation-area offices, and the Department of Immigration. Population and area figures are from the National Census 2021; district boundaries are from the Survey Department of Nepal. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences and are credited on each page.

Festival dates are read every day from the public Holidays in Nepal calendar. Costs, fees and travel times are estimates to help you plan — always confirm prices, permits and conditions locally before you travel.
