Besisahar and Lamjung Durbar
In Nepali: बेसीसहर र लमजुङ दरबार
Besisahar is a busy bazaar on the Marsyangdi where trekkers pick up jeeps for the Annapurna Circuit. Lamjung was one of the Chaubise (24) kingdoms; its old palace, Lamjung Durbar, stands on a ridge above the town and is linked with the ancestors of the Shah kings of Gorkha.
Short walks from town lead to Gaunshahar and the durbar with views of the Himalaya, and the district's hills are home to Gurung, Magar, Dura and Brahmin–Chhetri villages.
What to see and do
Walk up to Lamjung Durbar and Gaunshahar for views and history, visit the local market, and use the town as a base for Ghalegaun, Bhujung and the start of the Annapurna Circuit.
Good to know
Jeeps to Chame and Manang leave from Besisahar; share rides are available. ACAP permits can be checked here.
