One of the largest caves in Nepal, a vast chamber of stalactites below Bandipur.

Siddha Gufa is a huge limestone cave on the slope between Bandipur and Bimalnagar on the highway. Its main chamber is some 400 m deep and tall enough for a small building, decorated with stalactites and stalagmites and home to bats.

Local guides with lamps lead visitors inside. The walk down from Bandipur takes about an hour and a half on a steep trail; you can continue down to Bimalnagar and catch a bus.

What to see and do

Explore the main chamber with a guide and lamp, looking at the stalactite formations, bat colonies and the cave's shrine. The walk from Bandipur passes through forest and small settlements.

Good to know

There is an entry fee including a guide. The cave floor is uneven and slippery; wear sturdy shoes and bring a torch.
