Namaste Waterfall
In Nepali: नमस्ते झरना
Namaste Jharana gets its name from its shape: two streams of water fall side by side and meet, looking like palms pressed together in the Nepali greeting. It lies in the hills between Dharan and Dhankuta, in a gorge surrounded by forest.
Reaching it takes a short drive and a walk down to the stream. It is best in and just after the monsoon, and the trails can be slippery then, so wear good shoes.
What to see and do
Walk down to the pool at the base to see the twin streams meeting, and cool off in the spray. The trail through the forest and farmland is pleasant in itself.
Good to know
In the dry season the flow is much smaller. Wear shoes with grip, carry water, and avoid climbing on slippery rocks. Ask locally for the current trailhead, as access routes change with road building.
