Godawari and Phulchowki
In Nepali: गोदावरी र फूलचोकी

Godawari, in the south-east corner of the valley, is home to the National Botanical Garden, the spring-fed Godawari Kunda where a fair is held every twelve years, and the Naudhara (nine spouts) shrine.
Behind it rises Phulchowki (2,782 m), the highest point on the valley rim. Its forest of oak and rhododendron is one of the best birdwatching sites near Kathmandu, and a road and trail lead to the summit shrine of Phulchowki Mai with a wide Himalayan view.
What to see and do
Stroll the National Botanical Garden's orchid house, glasshouses and lawns, visit the Godawari Kunda spring and Naudhara, and see the Godawari Marble quarry area views. Drive or hike up Phulchowki for rhododendron forest, birds such as the Nepal cutia and spiny babbler, and a summit view of the Himalaya.
Good to know
The botanical garden has a small entry fee and is popular for picnics on weekends. The road to Phulchowki's top is rough in places. Early mornings are best for birds.
