A goddess temple in a sacred forest in Baglung bazaar, one of western Nepal's major shrines.

Baglung Kalika Bhagawati stands in a grove of trees at the edge of Baglung bazaar, on a terrace high above the Kali Gandaki. Tradition links its founding with the kings of Parbat, and it draws large crowds at Dashain and Chaite Dashain.

Baglung is also known as the 'district of suspension bridges', many built with local labour. The town is a gateway to Dhorpatan and the western hills.

What to see and do

Visit the temple in its grove, see the Baglung bazaar and the town's many suspension bridges over the Kali Gandaki, and continue west towards Burtibang and Dhorpatan or north towards Beni and the Myagdi valley.

Good to know

The temple is busiest during Dashain and Chaite Dashain. Baglung has a good range of hotels.
